โš ๏ธ CHECK THIS OUT! โš ๏ธ Sesame Street is addressing addiction and the strong, but not always visible, impact that it has on children in a new online-only segment.

"'Sesame Street' creators said they turned to the issue of addiction since data show 5.7 million children under age 11 live in households with a parent with substance use disorder."

One month ago, we received news that we should stay in place. Many lost their jobs and kids were taken out of school. We were in the beginning stages of a global pandemic. The Rome Rescue Mission went into action and started our Mobile Mission COVID-19 Free Food Relief Program. What we thought would be a food increase of 3000 meals a month, quickly grew, and in the first month have served 10,400 meals. We have driven over 500 miles while delivering meals right here in Rome and have served over 300 individuals and families. Without the continued support from our community we would not be able to provide this service. We hope that you will continue to support the mission through these trying times. There are many ways to donate at this time. A fund has been set up with Smith Packing company in Utica that you can call and donate money to, we have set up an amazon shopping list so you can shop from the safety of your home and as always you can donate directly online to the Rome Rescue Mission. Gift cards to area grocery stores are also greatly appreciated as well as donations dropped off to the mission. Again, we are humbled by the backing of our community. God bless. ... See MoreSee Less

With all that is happening in the world right now the celebration of Easter looks very different this year. Although we may not be able to celebrate in ways we normally would, one thing that remains the same, is that Easter is the greatest celebration of the yeart. We are currently at 600 meals that will be served either to-go or from our mobile mission on Easter Sunday. We may not be able to all be together but it is still a time in which we rejoice in the resurrection of our Savor Jesus Christ. This Easter it is even more prominent that Jesus has lived and died and risen for us. We hope you find peace knowing he is the source of our salvation, especially in these difficult times. "Throughout the country, communities are working hard to assist those vulnerable in need. We are committed to doing our part here in Rome, NY to help as the effects of COVID 19 are felt."

Our primary purpose and goal is the safety of our staff, men, woman and children in low-income households, senior citizens and the community at large.

We will continue to provide our community breakfast, lunch, and dinner at 413 East Dominick Street on a To Go basis.

We are adhering to CDC and State agencies' recommendations for providing our services and shelter in the future.

Updated information will be posted at romemission.org and Facebook.

Our food pantry is available to all in need. We also use food from the pantry to make baskets to give to families, as well as prepare meals in our kitchen, so family-size containers always work the best.

A few of the items that we accept are pasta products, canned veggies and fruits, condiments, spices, coffee, creamer, and sugar. We can always use all kinds of meat productsโ€”hamburger, chicken, pork, ham, hot dogs, deli meat, bacon, and sausage. ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿ—
